- Optional addition to your preface: please consider linking to a web page or blog post with an annotated bibliography for your research project. An annotated bibliography can organize your research -- but this genre is not required for the research project.

The coronavirus has changed our entire lives all around the world, everything had to stop from big evens to small events. The countries like South Korea and China did a better job at protecting their citizens by taking early preventative action like wearing masks and isolating everybody with strict regulations. Other countries like Italy, Spain and the U.S did not take action when they had the time to do a lot more for the safety of their people. African countries, India, brazil and many of the colonized countries did not have supplies such as ventilators.
“Before the COVID-19 pandemic, caused by the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, reaching the United States, many Americans were already experiencing poor health because of a lack of medical insurance coverage and no access to affordable health care” (Solis. Pg.1). the U.S should have access to healthcare for everyone not just for those who can afford the high cost. Immigrants all over the world were the ones who got affected the most by the coronavirus because in whatever country they were, most of the time they don’t have access to healthcare, many live in small shared rooms which makes it impossible to follow the social distancing regulations. jobs such as selling candy and food in the streets live on a day to day money income. Children and women, the ones who get affected the most. “The United States has experienced by far the highest number of COVID-19 cases and deaths in the world 65 deaths per100,000 population” (Solis, pg. 1).
In the U.S the ones who are dying the most are those who were considered “essential workers” such as healthcare workers, supermarkets and food production workers. Health care
workers did not have proper protective equipment. Supermarket workers did not get any protection until the government asked everyone to wear masks. This is something the U.S could have done to prevent the spread in the supermarkets. They could of also deliver food to the people and give them an incentive not to go out. Discrimination is one of the social determinants of health in the U.S. Most people can acknowledge that discrimination has an insidious effect on the lives of minorities, those effects can include being passed over for jobs for which they are qualified or shut out of housing they can afford. Social, economic, and political mechanisms within a particular society give rise to a set of sociopolitical positions whereby populations are stratified according to income, gender, education, occupation, race, ethnicity, and other factors” (Chapman, 2010). Minorities in the U.S are the most vulnerable against coronavirus.
Global health is a very important for the health and wellbeing of the citizens of our global community, yet the U.S cut their budget. Global health is an area for study, research and practice that primarily focuses on improving the health of people and achieving equity in health for people all over the globe.
The U.S could have slowed down the spread of covid19 by closing down the boarders since they found out in December 2019 that there was an outbreak in China, they should of follow the Chinese and made social distancing mandatory, they also should of have protective equipment ready for healthcare workers and essential workers such as agriculture workers, the U.S should of guided the public and demanded them to wear face masks instead of telling people false information about face mask. Countries who wore face masks since the begging of the outbreak, did not get affected as much and they were able to control the spread of coronavirus. For example, south Korea was the second epicenter of the coronavirus, yet they managed to control the spread by implementing strict stay at home rules, wearing face masks, making face
masks available for everybody. One of the main things that the U.S could have done was to provide testing for everybody. Testing is still an issue because people are not being tested. Essential workers in the country have to go to work every day, yet if they feel sick or show the symptoms, there is no test available. If people are not getting tested, the spread of the virus will continue to infect people and unfortunate many people are dying on a daily basis. The U.S could have been better prepared if they did not cut the budgets for public and global health. The U.S presidents was also sending out messages to the public without scientific evidence. For example, he recommended people to inject chemicals and take medications that were not proven to be effective. The president at the begging of the outbreak, he minimized the actual sever of it and made the U.S people believe that nothing was going to happened and it was not going to be as bad as it really was.
Overall, the U.S was the country that was affected the most out of all the other countries, yet the U.S is the number one spender of healthcare, yet when the outbreak got to the U.S no one care enough to stop whatever they were doing. A lot of people did not have the choice to stay at home. Many people in the U.S were already living in poverty before the coronavirus and after it hit, these people ended up jobless, no food, no savings and no healthcare. As a result, many Americans ended up being homeless. There is a big issue in the united states, the minimum wage is too low for the cost of living in the U.S. People need to start saving but they cannot afford to save for future events because the cost of living is too high. Maybe this could be a way that America prepares for our next pandemic.
